How I Care About My Physical Health As A Mother of Two

Across many ancient traditions, food was never viewed simply as fuel. It was rhythm, ritual, restraint, medicine and connection woven together into everyday life. Modern culture often teaches us to override the body’s signals through convenience, overstimulation and emotional consumption. Yet sometimes, slowing down enough to observe our relationship with nourishment can reveal not only physical patterns, but emotional and spiritual ones as well.

I came across Lalit Kapoor through a cousin and immediately knew something strong was coming through to me that would change my entire life and expand my lifespan. I felt intuitively drawn toward the deeper intentionality behind his philosophy.

I had already been off gluten since 2018 due to a significant sensitivity and possible celiac-related symptoms.

I joined Lalit’s course in 2024.

What drew me most to his work was not simply the discipline of the regimen itself, but the philosophy beneath it. Lalit, a former Silicon Valley entrepreneur and IIT Kanpur graduate, began deeply researching nutrition and lifestyle after facing multiple chronic health conditions later in life. Step by step, he eliminated the root cause of chronic conditions and thus was able to heal himself completely.

Lalit Kapoor describes struggling with multiple chronic conditions including:

  • hypertension

  • type 2 diabetes

  • hypothyroidism

  • gout

  • osteoarthritis

  • obesity

  • sleep apnea

According to his account, over time he lost significant weight and was eventually able to discontinue many of his medications under medical supervision.

Through years of studying plant-based nutrition, circadian rhythms, fasting and holistic wellness, he gradually transformed his health and eventually began teaching others what he had learned.

His framework includes walking 10,000 steps daily, practicing intermittent fasting, following a plant-based whole foods lifestyle, consuming homemade green juice, prioritizing circadian rhythms and cultivating gratitude, prayer and meaningful connection.

As we watched more people in his community describe improvements in their energy and overall wellbeing, we became increasingly curious.

I eventually purchased the Norwalk juicer he recommended and began making large batches of green juice for our family. We switched to the Omega 1000 Juicer recently, and have been having the Suja Green Juices to be efficient as life with two kids has gotten busier.

Some weeks, I would spend nearly five hours preparing and freezing juice so it would last us close to ten days.

Yoga had always been my preferred form of movement and strength-building, and I was never deeply immersed in intense workout culture.

My greatest revelation was realizing that a plant-based whole foods lifestyle felt far more approachable than I had once imagined.

The longer fasting windows also revealed something unexpected to me: often, my emotions were craving comfort more than my physical body was craving food.

Rather than feeling depleted, I often experienced greater clarity, steadier energy and a surprising sense of emotional lightness afterward.

Lifestyle Principles That Resonated With Me

·      Prioritizing whole, minimally processed plant foods

·      Reducing refined foods, added oils and excess sugar

·      Walking daily and staying physically active through simple movement

·      Supporting circadian rhythms through sleep and daylight

·      Practicing intermittent fasting and mindful eating windows

·      Staying hydrated consistently throughout the day

·      Cultivating gratitude, prayer, laughter and meaningful connection

·      Viewing discipline as a form of self-respect rather than punishment

Personal Reflections

Dimension Before
Age 34–36, 1 Child
After
Age 36–38, 2 Children Under 2.5
Emotional Often feeling emotionally reactive and unconsciously attaching my sense of peace to external circumstances. Feeling more internally grounded, actively creating joy and practicing gratitude through both beautiful and difficult seasons.
Physical Sleeping 7–9 uninterrupted hours yet still feeling fatigued during the day, with intermittent joint discomfort. Functioning with far less sleep during early motherhood while feeling surprisingly energized and rarely needing daytime rest.
Mental Experiencing mental fog, difficulty focusing and resistance toward initiating new projects. Greater mental clarity, renewed motivation and a deeper willingness to pursue meaningful and challenging work.

The older I get, the more I realize that true wellness is rarely about perfection or control. It is about learning to live in deeper alignment with the body, the nervous system and the rhythms that quietly sustain us. Discipline, when rooted in self-respect rather than punishment, begins to feel less restrictive and more liberating. And perhaps the deepest transformation is not simply physical vitality, but becoming more awake to the emotional and spiritual patterns shaping our everyday lives.
